Maybe a Little Bit Better

Alright, so things have improved, but they definitely got worse before they got better.

Some time in the middle of last week I had a bit of a breakdown in regards to this project and I actually almost changed my idea. I was feeling really uninspired and I couldn't even think about continuing it. I decided to stick with it because changing course now felt like it would put me too far behind.

Things only started improving yesterday when we did the presentations of our project pitches. I got an idea from one of the people I presented to about possibly setting up the narrative around old letters that had been found. I thought that was a really good idea because I feel like letters are so intimate and it really gives me the space to delve deeper into characters rather than focus on the historical aspect.

I liked having an adult/ teacher perspective on my project because I feel like they have such a different way of viewing projects. Students tend to have the "I don't know what's happening and I have given up at this point" mentality that teachers don't seem to have. A lot of their feedback was genuinely helpful and helped to improve my state of mind in regards to this project.

Hopefully, I will be able to contact people from within the Historical Society soon and see what kinds of letters they have, if any. I really need to start research as soon as possible.

Au revoir,

Abby
