Still Unsure

Welcome back for 20Time post #2. Not much has changed since my first post. I still am unsure as to what my project is. I know that I want to produce some sort of writing in the end. My real struggle revolves around two decisions: what will the writing be about and what type of writing will it be.
In regards to what type of writing I want to do, I made two lists of the pros. My two options as of right now are either one long-form story, or a collection of short stories. Here is a preview of my lists:
Short Stories:
~Less plot involved
~Less likely to get bored because I can write different stories
~Can use variety
~Try something new
Long-Form Stories:
~I have experience
~I can do a lot more with a story
~Personally more involved with a single story
~Get a better grasp of characters

So as you can see, both options have their merits. As to what I want them to be about, I really don't have any clue. I am kind of playing with the idea of basing it off the journals of a pastor that are stored in my local historical society. It wouldn't be a retelling of the journals, but I was thinking about using them to get an understanding of daily life and what was important to people in American history.
That's where I'm at and I have no idea how to end this so I'm just going to say goodbye.
Au revoir,
Abby Yeager
